Project
InterContinental Hotel
GSTEC was tasked with the BMS & ICN Upgrade Project at the InterContinental Hotel Sydney.
The InterContinental Sydney is a 5-star hotel, with 509 Guest rooms, 14 event spaces along with multiple restaurants and bars. The project was undertaken while the hotel remained fully operational, with no impact to hotel operations or guest comfort.
Full Building BMS Upgrade • InterContinental Sydney
Intercontinental Sydney undertook a major BMS replacement project in early 2024, where a specification was created by a Consultant, in view of taking the building to the next generation and future proofing it.
During the tender review there was a company that had submitted a tender price substantially lower, however, when the reference checks were carried out, based on feedback, a decision was made to select GSTEC. The installation of the BMS has taken approximately 7 months...
Overview
The project included:
- A full replacement of the existing BMS with a new Schneider Electric #EcoStruxure EBO solution
- A new Integrated Communications Network
- Integration of the existing guest room control system to the BMS, unlocking operational insights to optimise central plant performance
- A new Energy Management System
- Installation of 5 new gas meters and a new chilled water flow meter
Outcome
GSTEC successfully completed the project on time and within budget, achieving a seamless upgrade of the hotel’s building systems with no impact to guests or day-to-day operations.
The BMS, EMS and ICN upgrades will support improved energy efficiency, maintain guest comfort and enable the InterContinental Hotel Sydney to benefit from the latest smart building technologies well into the future.
Thank you to both DeltaQ and the Hotel’s engineering team for their cohesion and support throughout the project, which greatly contributed to the project’s success.
